Connecting Communities in Northwest Colorado

About Colorado Big Country and RC&D

Colorado Big Country RC&D’s mission is to foster resource conservation and development. It focuses on the issues in Northwest Colorado fostering improved land conservation, land management, water management and community development. Our Council members achieve these goals by forming partnerships with communities and organizations. We actively look for projects to support with technical research, grant research and grant fund raising and grant administration. Click here for a map of the counties we serve.

Colorado Big Country's Council is made up of representatives from businesses, government, non-profit organizations as well as individuals. These volunteers make a difference! We invite you to attend a council meeting to get acquainted.

Office space, telephones, and other administrative support are also provided to allow the staff to focus on community needs.

Colorado Big Country RC&D was designated as an RC&D area in 1972 by the Secretary of Agriculture. Today it is one of eight in the state of Colorado and there are more than 375 nationwide. In 1987 Colorado Big Country was recognized as a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization.

"What can we do collectively to ensure continuation of our high quality of life and sustainable resource base?" This is the question Colorado Big Country's Board and Council members constantly strive to answer. Projects are initiated on the basis of volunteer support and interest. Colorado Big Country then uses its resources to find partners and funding. Do you have a project that would benefit Northwest Colorado? Would you like to partner with us?
