Shawn has spent most of her career working in the transportation, logistics and environmental fields, much of that time as a Certified Risk Manager. She recently returned to Colorado from Texas to the Community Relations arena for EnCana.

In the 1980’s, she began a career in oilfield and chemical transportation business. This work laid the foundation of safety, environmental and regulatory knowledge. In the 1990’s, Shawn worked on several “NIMBY” projects in CO, OK, LA, and FL for an Environmental Engineering and Construction firm owned by Amoco Oil Co. in Golden, CO. The firm designed, permitted, constructed and, sometimes operated, hazardous waste incinerators and landfills. These were long term projects with a great deal of community interaction and where she began community relations work.

In 1997, Shawn began work as the Director of Risk Management for an international transportation and logistics firm in Houston, TX (EGL). Her background in safety, environmental, regulatory issues and transportation assisted in strategic development of several international initiatives for the company, including comprehensive regulatory and air cargo security programs.

In 2006, Shawn moved back to Colorado to work at her present position with EnCana as a Stakeholder Relations Coordinator. In that capacity, she works to bring resolution to community issues and is active in several local and state groups, including the Garfield County and Rio Blanco County Operators’ Groups, West Slope COGA, Club 20 and “Community Counts,” a cooperative group of industry operators, contractors, residents and government officials who actively work to mitigate local community impacts resulting from industry activities.

She obtained a BS in Psychology degree from the University of Houston in Clear Lake, TX. In the past, she has been an avid horsewoman. In her spare time, Shawn enjoys hiking, fishing, hunting and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Her husband, Jordan, manages the U.S. operations of an oil field fire fighting and safety company, and has opened an office in Silt. Shawn and Jordan reside in Battlement Mesa.
