Jennifer Murray graduated from Alfred University, a small university in the Southern Tier of rural New York State. She graduated in 1995 with a degree in Environmental Science and Geology. Jennifer became a Project Manager for an environmental consulting firm in New Jersey for several years before moving permanently to Fraser, Colorado.

Once in Fraser, she began working for the Grand County Department of Natural Resources and also spent several years teaching snowboarding at the Winter Park Resort.
Jennifer joined Colorado Big Country RC&D in 2003, became a board member in 2004 and served a term as President. Jennifer currently manages the Grand County Division of Natural Resources which handles air quality, wildland fire/fuels reduction issues, as well as mountain pine beetle issues and noxious weed management.
